Different groups separate in different ways. There is no accurate management to define the one that is best. As in technology all are the same, but by label some are better than others. Some people may like certain types of technology based on labels which brings the popularity of that certain brand. In this thesis, however, the project is designed to bring out the intuition of technology; the main goal of this is something extraordinary in this field.

The main point of this thesis was to bring out the creativity one can use by creating a Nokia 6600-controlled Remote Control (RC) Car. The Remote Control (RC) Car is a Firefox Transmitter 1:20 Radio Control (R/C) Buggy. The full functions of the RC car are to move forward, backward, reverse, left/right turn and to stop. Through the power of creativity, the proponent thought of something unique and having something out-of-the-ordinary, but will also catch the attention of others and benefit the future.

This benefit is the use of one’s vision to create things anew from the science of today’s modern technology. Using one’s creativity in the field of science and technology can be used as modernization for the future, for thinking of helpful, and yet, creative ways for the best of mankind. Now days in the modern world, motorized automobiles have either power locked or a remote keyless system which operates by broadcasting radio waves on a particular frequency. Modern systems implement encryption to prevent car thieves from intercepting and spoofing the signal.

The system signals that has either locked or unlocked the car usually through some fairly discreet combination of flashing vehicle lamps, a distinctive sound other than the horn or some usage of the horn itself. The functions of a remote keyless entry system are contained on a key fob or built into the ignition key handle itself. What the proponent has proposed in this thesis is instead of using broadcasting radio waves as the remote keyless system, the use of Bluetooth Technology instead.

Using Bluetooth Technology as the computerized system patrons would be able to lock, unlock, open the trunk, open/close windows, start the vehicle and eventually be able to steer a vehicle using Bluetooth Technology. Bluetooth Technology is an open wireless protocol for exchanging data over short distances from fixed and mobile devices, creating personal area networks (PANs). It was originally conceived as a wireless alternative to RS232 data cables. It can connect several devices, overcoming problems of synchronization.

Bluetooth range can go as far as of 100 meters and the Bluetooth range goes from 32 m indoors and 95m outdoors. Bluetooth Technology is a standard and a communications protocol primarily designed for low power consumption, with a short range based on low-cost transceiver microchips in each device. Bluetooth Technology makes it possible for these devices to communicate with each other when they are in range. Because the devices use a radio (broadcast) communications system, they do not have to be in line of sight of each other.

The programming language the proponent will be using for the design project is called Java. The programming language derives much of its syntax from C and C++ but has a simpler object model and fewer low-level facilities. Java is general-purpose, concurrent, class-based, and object-oriented, and is specifically designed to have as few implementation dependencies as possible. It is intended to let application developers “write once, run anywhere”. Java is considered by many as one of the most influential programming languages of the 20th century, and widely used from application software to web application.

The proposed system for this project consists of a remote controlled (RC) car that will be steered and operated via Bluetooth using a Nokia 6600. Steering of the RC car will be controlled using the accelerometers available thru Bluetooth in the Nokia 6600. Nokia 6600 application will be developed to provide the proponent with an appropriate interface for steering the RC car. Connectivity between the RC car and the Nokia 6600 will be accomplished using a Bluetooth technology system. An onboard computer system will be added to the RC car to handle receiving data and controlling the onboard motors and servos.
