Should animal experimentation be permitted? Animal testing is used to ensure that products are safe for consumers. Unfortunately, many animals are seriously harmed in the process. Here’s why we should save them. While many say that animal testing allows medicines to be created that later go on and aid human life, there is many more examples where medicines that were developed through testing on animals that went on to create horrible fatalities on humans.
There was a case of a medicine that was developed then led to 10,000 babies being born with deformities as it did not function as expected on humans Since animal’s have a different anatomy than humans, it is risky to test any drugs on them, as they might not have the same effects when used by humans. Animal testing is usually cruel and inhumane on a horrifying level. It should so be against the law because innocent animals are going through so much pain and horror.
I can’t believe the government is letting this happen even though it is so wrong because animals should be free to live as the creatures god created and they shouldn’t be taken away from their homes and natural habitats just to live in tiny small gages for the rest of their lives because every living thing has feelings and they do too so they should not have to go through this for no reason. Many animal tests lead to pain on animals and a part of the tests are performed without any pain killers.
Some tests lead to permanent injury or death. Animals can’t speak their own opinion and if they could they would say no. I think that is one of the most cruel things ever, how would the doctors feel if they took one of their friends and started testing on him. In addition to being cruel, animal testing is incredibly costly. Animal testing can certainly cost a living creature its life, which is a high enough price already, but can also be financially harmful to the organizations performing the tests. I think animal tests aren’t reliable.
People and animals are different and that’s why a medicine or cosmetic ingredient that is safe on animals may not be it on people or vies-versa. For example aspirin is toxic to rats and mice but not to people. There is no basic connection between animal testing and the human health. It is dangerous and fraudulent to apply data retrieved from one species to another entirely different species. Think, people are different then animals, so they have different side effects. Furthermore, there are alternative to animal testing.
This includes for example embryonic stem cell research. Also using volunteering people instead of non-volunteering animals is one of the alternatives. If you were an animal will you want to be tested on and maybe killed? Living tissues can be grown in test tubes and new drugs can be tested on these. Computers can also be programmed to show how medicines will react in the human body. Although some drugs can be used on animals and humans, this does not mean that they have to be tested on animals in the first place when alternative methods are available.
Alternative methods do work. Animals have rights too. Animals have rights as well and they shouldn’t be violated. Human beings are just another species of animals. Most of us wouldn’t accept that 100 million people would be submitted every year to non-voluntary tests (many leading to pain or death). Why do we allow it with animals? Animals are non-volunteers in tests when tests could be done with alternative methods.
